The other day I was walking from my dorm to lunch with my floor, when a friend and I noticed a leaf on the ground. It had an odd shape; it was slightly twisted so that when it fell, it would spin and fall more slowly. What went through my mind was something like this: no reason exists for a leaf to be shaped like that when it is ready to fall except that it's cool to watch. If the world came about by evolution, likely all tree leaves would look somewhat alike, all designed for maximum gathering of sunlight. The incredible and beautiful diversity that we have is an emphatic argument for the creation of the world by God. The only reason things can exist simply because they are beautiful or interesting is if Someone designed the world who likes beautiful and interesting things. By natural evolution, everything would be purely utilitarian, the surviving "fittest" being those plants and animals who were most efficient. But that is not the world in which we live. We live in a world that is beautiful, designed by the hand of a God who loves beauty. Those who say otherwise are fools (Psalm 14:1). They close their eyes, put their hands over their ears, and loudly proclaim to see and hear better than those ignorant Christians. Edit: Ok, enough ranting. I'm leaving now :)
